ATTRIBUTES
Cultivar Notes -
Hot Lips
Short spikes of rosy-pink flowers that look like a turtle’s head with its mouth open delight children and other passersby in late summer and early fall. This is the kind of plant that makes a great backdrop for shorter plants in the garden.
Genus Notes -
Chelone
Chelones (Greek for "turtle") are native to swamps and damp woods in the eastern U.S. Their sturdy stems are lined with pairs of glossy, deep green leaves and, in late summer, clusters of open-mouthed flowers in pink or white.
