Cultivar Notes - 'Cotton Candy'
Cheerful cotton candy pink flowers are held in dense, triangulr plumes atop compact mounds of foliage in midsummer. Use this astilbe to line pathways or in the fron of the flower border.
Genus Notes - Astilbe
If you're looking for summer color in shade, you need Astilbes. They produce feathery plumes in red, white, and pink after most other shade plants have finished flowering. For best results, plant in soil that doesn't dry out completely. Astilbe produce large plumes in varius sizes and shapes. Each plume consists of hundreds of tiny flowers, each opening in succession, providing a long season of bloom. Plumes make excellent fresh cuts or for drying in natural bouquets. Astilbe grow best in moist soils and semi-shade. Will tolerate more sun with adequate moisture. Excellent for the woodland garden. Plant in mass for a stunning display.
Species Notes - Astilbe arendsii
This group comprises some of the oldest and original hybridized varieties, yet they remain some of the more popular in production. Generally taller varieties and early blooming. Zone 3-8.
