Cultivar Notes - 'Colrain Red'
Whorls of bright red florets with a touch of yellow are perched atop the stout, square stems of this monarda from midsummer to early fall. It has demonstrated a high resistance to mildew.
Genus Notes - Monarda
Bees love Bee Balm, it's true, but so do hummingbirds. In the moist soil they prefer, plants spread quickly by underground stems to form thickets of tall square stems, lined with fragrant foliage and topped with colorful mid- to late-summer blooms. Monarda has mint-scented foliage and unusual colorful flowers that are surrounded by equally colorful bracts. Deadhead for rebloom.
