Cultivar Notes -
Apple Blossom
A cool, subtle-colored yarrow, ‘Apple Blossom’ is aptly named for its soft lilac-pink to pale rose flowers. They have the most intense color when they first emerge and then fade as they age, lending a unique multicolored effect to the clump.
Genus Notes -
Achillea
This genus commemorates Achilles, the brave hero of the Trojan War who was virtually invulnerable--except for his heel-- according to Greek mythology. As a youth, Achilles learned of the healing powers of the plants that would come to bear his name. Used from antiquity through the Civil War, this plant has been used to stanch wounds.

Commonly known as Yarrow, Achillea has also been referred to as Soldiers’ Woundwort, Carpenter Grass, and Sneezewort. Yarrows are valued today for their outstanding performance in the garden and in vases. They are long-blooming, drought tolerant, and virtually pest- and disease-free. Delicate, fern-like foliage with flat terminal flower heads. Flowers are long-lasting and excellent for cutting. Plants are drought tolerant and thrive in poor, dry soils. Good for summer color in the mid-border area.
