Species Notes -
Armeria maritima
Thrift are native to seaside cliffs, and are durable perennials for most any sunny location.
Genus Notes -
Armeria
Armerias are showy plants that present their flowers in dense, globe-shaped heads above clumps of grasslike leaves. They are all the more valuable because they are adaptable, growing and flowering both in heavy clay and poor sandy soil. Small, attractive mounds of tufted evergreen, grass-like leaves, very floriferous in spring and early summer. Plants are salt tolerant and are often grown along the coastline. Excellent for use as edging or in rock gardens.
