Species Notes -
Heliopsis helianthoides
False Sunflowers are reliable for their very long season of bloom. They form a tall, bushy mound of dark green leaves, bearing branching heads of large deep yellow or orange daisy flowers. Removing faded flowers regularly will greatly extend the blooming season. Easily divided in early spring. A selection of one of our native wildflowers. Attractive to butterflies.
Genus Notes -
Heliopsis
Heliopsis is a reliable perennial that produces truckloads of golden daisy-like flowers on sturdy stems over a very long season. It’s also extremely resistant to pests and diseases and tolerant of poor soil and drought. A terrific cut flower, to boot. Plant in well-drained average soil. Deadhead to promote constant summer bloom.
