Cultivar Notes -
Floristan Violet
Multiple wands of bright violet-purple flowers open from top to bottom beginning in early summer. All together, Liatris is a very strong vertical accent for the garden. It is a staple item for cutting gardens.
Genus Notes -
Liatris
These natives of the American prairie bear dense spikes of feathery blooms above clumps of grasslike leaves. The flowers have the unusual habit of opening from the top down, and are very long blooming. Liatris thrive in any well-drained soil and tolerate drought and heat. Use in the sunny perennial border or for naturalizing in the wildflower or prairie garden.
