Tips for Efficient Printing
Before proceeding:
  • To print more columns on a single page, print the report in Landscape mode. To do this, change your printer's 'Orientation' to Landscape in your browser's Printer Settings dialog box.
  • Hide unneeded columns (to reduce print output width) by unchecking column names in the 'View Preferences' box at the bottom of this screen. If this screen is currently in the 'Plant Images Only' view, you must first click the 'Display In List Format' checkbox before you can hide the columns you do not want to print. Your print output will match whatever you are viewing here.

False Spirea Astilbe chinensis
1. Little Vision in Pink
Perfectly sized for containers or the front of the border, ‘Little Vision in Pink’ offers all the same great traits as the original ‘Vision in Pink’ but in a smaller package. Standing about 16” in bloom, a dense block of fuzzy, pyramidal shaped, rose pink plumes is presented just above the coarsely textured, dark green foliage in midsummer. Like all Chinese Astilbes, this one exhibits a bit greater tolerance to drier soils and can take full sun.   Click to display 'Little Vision in Pink' tag image 14"-16" 14"-16" 4-9 8" Green
2. Little Vision in Purple
‘Little Vision in Purple’ differs from ‘Visions’ by its more compact plant habit, more finely dissected leaves, and darker colored flowers. These flowers form a dense block of fuzzy, pyramidal shaped, lavender plumes, presented just above the coarsely textured, dark green foliage in midsummer. Like all Astilbe chinensis types, this one exhibits a bit greater tolerance to drier soils and can tolerate full sun. 11B-South Click to display 'Little Vision in Purple' tag image 12"-15" 14"-16" 4-9 8" Green
3. Maggie Daley
A later blooming species useful for extending the bloom season into late summer. Foliage is deeply incised, coarsely textured, and often bronze-green in color. Flowers are borne on narrow, branched panicles. Though garden performance is far superior in moist soils, members of this species are moderately drought tolerant.   Click to display 'Maggie Daley' tag image 28" 16"-20" 4-9 8" Green

6. Pumila
A late-blooming, low-growing Astilbe that spreads quickly but not aggressively to form a carpet of handsome, finely divided foliage. In late summer, the carpet bristles with fluffy, lilac-rose spikes. This is the best Astilbe for ground cover use.   Click to display 'Pumila' tag image 10"-12" 12"-16" 4-9 4" Green

Dense, poker-like plumes emerge a rich violet-red, then lighten up as they age. Blooms in midsummer. Bold, dark green foliage with a coarse texture. Has a unique look; makes a strong color statement in the garden.   Click to display 'Purple Candles' tag image 42" 30"-40" 4-9 8" Green
8. Purple Rain
This midsized selection has fluffy plumes in shades of lavender to magenta, over a mound of elegant, lacy green leaves. A healthy, vigorous performer. Great in the border, it also thrives in tubs or mixed containers. Fertilize in April and June. Excellent for cutting. Developed in the Netherlands by breeder Hans van der Meer in 2000.   Click to display 'Purple Rain' tag image 18"-21" 18"-23" 3-9 8" Green

11. Vision in Red
A robust grower, 'Vision in Red' has deep red buds that open to pinkish-red flowers on full plumes. It blooms in midsummer, with flowers being held on red stems above the bronze-green foliage.   Click to display 'Vision in Red' tag image 15" 15" 4-9 8" Terra Cotta
12. Vision In White
