Tips for Efficient Printing
Before proceeding:
  • To print more columns on a single page, print the report in Landscape mode. To do this, change your printer's 'Orientation' to Landscape in your browser's Printer Settings dialog box.
  • Hide unneeded columns (to reduce print output width) by unchecking column names in the 'View Preferences' box at the bottom of this screen. If this screen is currently in the 'Plant Images Only' view, you must first click the 'Display In List Format' checkbox before you can hide the columns you do not want to print. Your print output will match whatever you are viewing here.

Holly (Blue aka Meserve)Ilex x meservae
1. Blue Maid
Click to display
An exceptionally hardy, vigorous, broadleaf evergreen with snag-free, purple-green holly foliage that is well-suited for use along walkways or border plantings. This dense, bushy cultivar with bright red berries and purple stems provides a classic holly look. Partner with a male blue holly pollenizer such as Blue Prince for a prolific berry set.

Get the fruit and pollinator in one pot for a perfect foundation plant, backdrop, hedge or screen. Plant as a single specimen that is gorgeous under snowfall, or line it up to create a dense hedge. Use to soften unsightly corners of fences or buildings, or plant at the back of shrub and perennial borders for reliable year round foliage. Perfect for holiday crafts.

2. Blue Prince
Click to display
A hardy hybrid with lustrous deep green foliage. Used as the male pollinator for ‘Blue Princess’ and other female Blue Hollies to produce the beautiful red winter berries. Best when placed within 50’ of the female plants.
 #2 Pot  8'-10'n/a4

3. Blue Prince & Princess
Click to display
Considered by many to be the best of the blue hollies! Lustrous blue-green leaves, and abundant dark red berries adorn this broad rounded shrub. Use Blue Prince as the pollinator.
 #3 Pot  8'-10'8'-10'5

4. China Boy & China Girl
Click to display
‘China Boy’ and ‘China Girl’ were noted breeder Kathleen Meserve's attempt to introduce more heat tolerance into her famous blue hollies by breeding with Ilex cornuta. ‘China Boy’ has olive green foliage and serves to pollinate ‘China Girl’. One ‘China Boy’ can pollinate up to seven ‘China Girl’ hollies for a good fruit set. One of each in the pot to insure berry production.
 #3 Pot 7'-10'6'-7'5-9
