Sparkling Pink Champagne™

This viburnum bursts onto the scene in spring with beautiful large, snowball-shaped clusters of pink flowers covering every branch. In the summer, bright red berries steal the show against the deeply corrugated, dark green foliage. An improvement over other pink flowering plicatums.

A deciduous shrub with an upright habit and delicately arching branches, the leaves turn burgundy-red in autumn.

Viburnum plicatum

Viburnum plicatum is a popular ornamental plant, both in its native areas of mainland China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, and elsewhere in temperate regions. Some of the more popular cultivars are selected for having all of their flowers large and sterile with few or no fertile flowers; their flowerheads resemble a snowball, giving them the popular name Japanese snowball bush.

The Latin specific epithet plicatum means “pleated”, referring to the texture of the leaves.
