Tips for Efficient Printing
Before proceeding:
  • To print more columns on a single page, print the report in Landscape mode. To do this, change your printer's 'Orientation' to Landscape in your browser's Printer Settings dialog box.
  • Hide unneeded columns (to reduce print output width) by unchecking column names in the 'View Preferences' box at the bottom of this screen. If this screen is currently in the 'Plant Images Only' view, you must first click the 'Display In List Format' checkbox before you can hide the columns you do not want to print. Your print output will match whatever you are viewing here.

9. Victory
Click to display
A mature specimen of the giant Hosta ‘Victory’ is a triumphant accomplishment and commands attention in the landscape. Be sure to start this one early to give it plenty of time to mature. Though it has a good growth rate, like most giant hostas it takes some years to develop the huge leaves and distinctive variegation that makes it so special.

Shiny green leaves of good substance display yellow margins which lighten to pale yellow. The foliage is somewhat upright early in the season, forming a broad spreading mound as the season progresses. Light lavender flowers appear on very long, sideways arching scapes in early to midsummer.

Described by many as the most spectacular hosta they have ever seen! ‘Brother Stefan’ is a large-sized hosta with a moderate growth rate and thick, heavily corrugated and puckered leaves that are green with a brilliant gold center. 11. Lakeside™ Paisley Print

This stunning hosta produces heart-shaped leaves with very wide, wavy, green margins. The narrow, creamy white markings in the center of the leaves shoot out from the cream colored petioles in a feathery pattern. One of the very best hostas to come from Mary Chastain! Its thick substanced leaves make the perfect background for the cream scapes that carry the light lavender flowers in midsummer.

12. Shadowland® Coast to Coast
Click to display
‘Coast to Coast’ is a giant, solid gold hosta that makes a striking specimen in the shade garden. Its foliage emerges gold in spring and turns lighter gold with a bit more sun exposure in the summer months. As the leaves mature, they become thick and puckered with wavy edges and have nearly white undersides.

The upright vase-shaped clump is topped with green scapes carrying pale violet flowers in midsummer. This hosta tends to be more slug resistant because of its thick substance foliage and rigidly upright habit. It can be grown as a single specimen in a large container or in a prominent place in the landscape.

13. Shadowland® Wheee!
Click to display
Extremely ruffled, cream colored margins extend from the tip of each green leaf all the way down the petiole to the crown. This ruffled margin is evident even in the juvenile stage of the plant before vernalization. The leaves of this medium sized hosta are of excellent substance, making them slug resistant in the landscape. Light lavender flowers appear atop purple scapes in midsummer.

14. Shadowland® Diamond Lake

Attractive, heart-shaped, thick and heavily corrugated blue leaves have wavy margins. The large size of this plant also translates to large leaves: they can get up to 9 inches wide by 11 inches long. Pale lavender flowers appear in early to midsummer. Use this blue hosta to add some color to your shade garden. This plays well with ferns, hellebores, and other hostas.

15. Neptune
Click to display
This unique blue hosta is popular among hosta collectors and makes a very nice specimen in the home garden.

In spring, the narrow wedge-shaped leaves are bright glaucous blue and they hold their color well. As the season progresses they turn more blue-green. The heavily rippled leaves are of good substance, displaying some slug resistance. Lavender flowers are produced on arching scapes in late summer to early fall.

This hosta has a lovely cascading form that is displayed to best effect when planted on a ledge or in a container.
