Native to the hot, dry climate of South Africa, these mat-forming succulents endure dry soil and drought, although they struggle in heavy clay and extreme humidity. Superb in the rock garden or tumbling over a stone wall.

Tips from the pros: Wetness in the winter can cause die-back. Thrives in a variety of sites, but grows best in full sun with moderate moisture in dry summers. Does not like bark mulch - consider gravel.
