What's My Zone?
Zone: 5 to 9Perennial
|Blooms mid-summer to late autumn|
Cultivar Notes - 'Nippon'
Gracefully arching, compact mounds of dark green leaves with silver midribs. Striking, deep wine-colored inflorescences emerge, then age to cream and remain all winter. Leaves have a blanched almond fall color.
Series Notes - Warm Season Grasses
Warm season grasses grow most actively during the warmer months, then flower in late summer or fall. Most go completely dormant in winter. Warm season grasses include: Andropogon, Calamagrostis brachytricha, Carex, Cortaderia, Erianthus, Hakonechloa, Miscanthus, Panicum, Pennisetum, Schizachyrium, and Sporobolus.
Genus Notes - Miscanthus
These large Grasses add texture to fresh and dried arrangements. All have winter beauty to equal their summer charm, and they are not the least bit picky about soil.
