ATTRIBUTES
Cultivar Notes -
Sapphire Blue
Intense, steely blue flower heads form in summer on tall, erect plants. Adds striking architectural accent for garden. Plant in groups of three to five in vorders or beds. Good cut flower, fresh or dried.
Genus Notes -
Eryngium
Very drought tolerant and grows well in poorer soils. Prefers full sun with well-drained soil. Valued for its very unique and ornamental flowers, Sea Holly features open umbels of steel-blue prickly flowers, which are a favorite for cutting, fresh or dried.

A versatile plant, fitting well into the sunny border. Tolerant of hot, dry sites once established. Flowers are attractive to butterflies. For dried use, cut stems just as the first few flowers in each umbel are almost fully opened: hang upside down in a dark, warm room to dry. Divide plants in spring every 3 to 4 years.
