Cultivar Notes -
Gold Bullion
Big, bold high-wattage green-gold leaves make for dramatic contrast, brightening even the sunniest of borders. Looks great against plants with darker foliage. Electric-blue blooms spark additional interest. Flowers form on upright stems in late spring, early summer. Spreads rapidly to form a lovely carpet of golden-yellow foliage from spring to fall. Comes to Blooms of Bressingham from gardener Hilda Fielding.
Genus Notes -
Centaurea
Centaurea takes its name from the mythological centaurs, who were said to have used the plants medicinally. Today, gardeners grow them for their colorful, thistle-like flowers, which look right at home in an informal garden and are excellent for cutting.
