Genus Notes -
Chaenomeles
The Flowering Quince is an heirloom deciduous flowering shrub often seen in gardens of historic homes across the country.

Chaenomeles tolerate poor soil and are quite drought resistant. This makes them easy to care for and nearly indestructible once established. However, moderate watering is appreciated weekly in the heat of summer. Leafy, vibrant blooms will appear on old growth and are most prevalent in full sun.

The Blooms are the main attraction of this ornamental bloomer to both humans and pollinators. So, you can leave them unpruned for the butterflies and bees or prune some of the flowering branches for an indoor centerpiece.

Fun Fact: It can be purchased by Bonzai lovers for use indoors as well.
