Cultivar Notes -
Escargot
Escargot Begonia’s attractive twisted heart-shaped leaves remain dark green in color with showy silver variegation and tinges of brown throughout the year. It features dainty clusters of shell pink orchid-like flowers at the ends of the stems from late summer to mid fall.
Species Notes -
Begonia rex
Fantastic leaf forms and colors characterize the Rex begonia. Suitable as a houseplant, they also shine as a container accent or bedding plant in shady locations. Preferring full shade, they will also tolerate some indirect sun which serves to deepen the red and purple tones. Thrives in summer heat.

The native environment of Rex is typically high humidity and low light, but do not overwater. Allow to dry down somewhat between watering and maintain temperatures between 60-70 degrees F. Although a slow grower with specific requirements, Begonia Rex is a beautiful, long-lived specimen, well worth the extra effort.
