Cultivar Notes - 'Duffii'
'Lemon Button Fern' is a fairly small sized cultivar of the common sword fern that can grow fronds (stems) up to 10” long and are lined with tiny little leaves. Because of it’s appearance, it is also called the Fishbone Fern. When the slightly yellowish green leaves are crushed, it is said to smell of lemons, hence the name. It is moderate to slow growing and should not reach more than 12” in height and width. The Lemon Button Fern prefers evenly moist soil, and as most ferns, it does not appreciate direct light.
A perfect small plant for use as a table fern in 4 to 6 inch pots or in dish gardens. Its short fronds have small leaflets along its stem and it has a very exotic appearance not like most ferns.
