Cultivar Notes - 'Scaposa'
This variety of Ionantha does not have as many leaves as the Ionantha Ionantha. Leaves are covered with less scales, and are more fragile. The leaves are greener, longer and thicker. When in bloom, only the inner leaves turn red. The outer ones usually remain green. It has a short scape and a branched inflorescence. The petals are violet. An adult average size is about 4". This variety should be watered more frequently. It is more robust when grown at cooler temperatures.
Genus Notes - Tillandsia
Air Plants are incredibly low-maintenance plants. They absorb the majority of their nutrients from the air through their leaves, and are perfect for those with less-than-green-thumbs, or are forgetful when it comes to watering.
