Vitals -
ATTRIBUTES      Cultivar Notes - Mayfair Lilac pink flowers, July-September. Medium green foliage. Prefers well-drained organic acid soil. Use in rock gardens, borbers, edges, dried flowers. Species Notes - Calluna vulgaris Among the hardiest and varied of all hardy heathers. The Royal Horticulture society lists over 800 cultivars of this species. Callunas offer a wide range of sizes from small mounds to shrubs over 3' tal. Racemes of flowers appear in mid- to late-summer. Callunas flower best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade and thrive in more acidic soil. This small, variably-sized, evergreen shrub can be grown as a groundcover and is tolerant of poor soils. Prune every spring to prevent bare stems. |
