Cultivar Notes - 'Rubinstern (Ruby Star)'
One of the best new strains, E. 'Ruby Star' is similar to E. 'Magnus' in that they both hold their petals in a refined, horizontal arrangement. However, the petals of 'Ruby Star' are more substantial with a deeper magenta-red color.
Genus Notes - Echinacea
Enchinacea have always been a mainstay in the sunny perennial garden. Their popularity has skyrocketed in recent years due to intensive breeding programs that have produced fantastic new colors and introduced double and semi-double forms. They are easy to grow and tolerate a wide range of conditions, including being drought and heat tolerant.
Coneflowers are rugged perennials with a season of bloom that spans the entire summer. They are indispensable in the garden and excellent for cutting. All they need is plenty of sun and well-drained soil. Attractive cone heads add winter interests and are good for dried arrangements.
