Cultivar Notes -
Bergamo
‘Bergamo’ is a winner of the Fleuroselect Gold Medal, Europe’s Top Honor! This new Dutch Monarda variety banishes mildew even in rainy or humid climates, where gardeners have despaired of being able to grow Monarda.

‘Bergamo’ has three great new features: mildew resistance, very early blooms, and beautiful new color! The long, flower-packed spikes begin opening by late spring. They combine lilac and rosy-Violet shades for an intense, dark color that really stands out, especially against the rather light green foliage. ‘Bergamo’ is blooming by late spring in most climates, and continues through summer without a rest.

Genus Notes -
Monarda
Bees love Bee Balm, it’s true, but so do hummingbirds. In the moist soil they prefer, plants spread quickly by underground stems to form thickets of tall square stems, lined with fragrant foliage and topped with colorful mid- to late-summer blooms. Monarda has mint-scented foliage and unusual colorful flowers that are surrounded by equally colorful bracts. Deadhead for rebloom.
