Cultivar Notes -
Jewel of Desert™ Rosequartz
This forms a low carpet or mat of succulent, green leaves bearing loads of starry flowers. Petals are rose-pink with a white inner halo surrounding a yellow center. Part of the new Jewel of Desert series, these should bloom longer than typical ice plants. A great choice for hot, dry areas and excellent in the rock garden or wall and for edging the front of a border. Attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established. Where winter drainage is poor, consider growing this as a summer blooming annual.
Series Notes -
Jewel of Desert™
There has never been a hardy iceplant like the Jewel of Desert series. This breeding breakthrough delivers bright blooms on groundhugging plants continuously from spring until frost. Not a rebloomer -- an everbloomer, and it’s so easy to grow! Jewel of Desert turns hardy iceplant from a groundcover primarily interesting for its succulent foliage into a bloom machine! Enjoy three seasons of color every year from this rough-and-tumble garden performer!
Genus Notes -
Delosperma
Native to the hot, dry climate of South Africa, these mat-forming succulents endure dry soil and drought, although they struggle in heavy clay and extreme humidity. Superb in the rock garden or tumbling over a stone wall.

Tips from the pros: Wetness in the winter can cause die-back. Thrives in a variety of sites, but grows best in full sun with moderate moisture in dry summers. Does not like bark mulch - consider gravel.
