Cultivar Notes -
Topiary Eugenia
Add a formal touch to porches and patios with topiary eugenia. This evergreen shrub is generally only available in topiary forms that are sheared into almost any shape such as cones, spirals, or balls. Grow the plants in containers so you can move them indoors when frost threatens. Topiary eugenia can be overwintered indoors as an elegant houseplant.
Species Notes -
Eugenia myrtifolia
If you have a bright spot, eugenia topiaries are relatively easy to grow indoors. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that topiary eugenia needs plenty of light so place them near a south-facing window or patio door. Water to keep the soil slightly moist, but not saturated and never let the soil dry out completely. Eugenia wilts dramatically when dry and the leaves quickly turn crunchy. Outdoor, set topiary eugenia in a sunny location so all parts of the plant receive direct sunlight. Topiary eugenia is relatively slow growing so additional trimming to keep it in shape is only required occasionally. You can prune at any time.
