Its double row of striking petals in shades of pink, salmon, and rose that shoot strait out, bring an ethereal mood to the garden. These salmon petals sometimes have a little yellow in the centers, especially when just opening, which highlight the bright green center cone. As these flowers mature the petals turn a soft pink which then surround intense crimson cones. The large blooms are held on erects stems so you can enjoy their sweet fragrance with ease. Echinacea SunSeekers® Apple Green Coneflower is a free-flowering, long-blooming, showy perennial that blooms early summer to early fall. The large, semidouble flowers are a stunning shade of apple green with a dark green center cone that matures to lemon yellow. Borne on short, stocky stems, the flowers are held upright, making excellent cut flowers. In the garden, the long-lasting, nectar-rich flowers sustain butterflies and bees; and the dried end-of-season seed heads are a food source for songbirds and add garden interest as well, especially when dusted in freshly fallen snow.

One of the best daylilies in its color class! Putting on a terrific show in the garden, this daylily produces loads of large 6", shimmering diamond dusted, lavender mauve flowers with a prominent citron yellow throat and matching purple stamens. Ruffled, recurved tepals open wide and flat revealing the triangular flower form.

This daylily is highly fragrant; its delightful perfume is noticeable from several feet away. We like how compact and well-proportioned this daylily is, with its large flowers appearing just at the top of the foliage instead of on tall, willowy scapes like some large flowered daylilies. The well-branched and budded scapes appear first in midseason and then again later in the season when it reblooms.

82. Marque Moon

‘Marque Moon’ sets the new standard for white daylilies as its form is greatly improved. Extravagant ruffling unlike any other lends a fancy, elegant look to the blossoms. The large 5-5½", fragrant, cream colored blossoms have a yellow throat that radiates softly out onto the petals. This yellow coloring is repeated on the picotee edge around each rounded petal. On cloudy days, you can detect a hint of peach color in the flower, and on sunny days you can see the diamond dust sparkling on the petals.

This is a heavily budded daylily that can produce an incredible 40 buds per scape. It forms a compact clump of narrow, arching foliage topped with large flowers in midsummer.

84. Passion for Red
Click to display
Representing a breeding advancement in red daylilies, this new daylily produces very sunfast, extremely vibrant red flowers with a contrasting yellow eye/throat zone that is visible on all 6 tepals. For designers who are particular about their shades of red, this is more of an orange-red than a blue-red.

Very large 6¾", fragrant blossoms put on a terrific show in early midseason with some rebloom later in the summer. Thick, 3-4 way branched scapes carry buds which open over time rather than all at once, extending the bloom time and showing off each fabulous flower to its fullest potential.

‘Passion for Red’ is considered by some to be one of the very best red daylilies available today.

This is the perfect companion to ‘Primal Scream’, matching its spider-like look. Daylilies are a perfect landscape plant and possibly the most care-free and easiest perennials to grow.
