‘Goldsturm’ Black Eyed Susans have a long season of bloom and a sturdy, upright habit. The gold daisy-like flowers have a distinct dark brown central cone and are held on branching stems. Do not deadhead these cones if you want winter interest since the black seed heads remain attractive throughout the winter and the seeds provide a source of food for small birds.

Black-eyed Susan ‘Viette's Little Suzy’ produces long lasting flowers. Little Suzy is shorter than other Black-eyed Susan’s, but despite its size it is a strong, dependable plant. Little Suzy is deer resistant and attracts butterflies and birds to your garden. It’s a great cut flower and is very easy to grow.

Destined to become the new standard, this new introduction is a terrific improvement over ‘Goldsturm’. While ‘Goldsturm’ can stand waist-high in bloom with tall, wispy flowering stems, ‘Little Goldstar’ is a much more compact, proportional plant. Standing just knee high, this plant forms a bushy, short clump of rich green foliage covered with a dome of closely spaced, starburst-shaped, 2-2.5”, golden yellow blossoms held just above the foliage. Very well-branched scapes carry loads of flowers from midsummer through early fall. Over 80 flowers have been counted on a single plant, making this selection more floriferous than ‘Goldsturm’.

Flower heads are composed of bright yellow petals surrounding a green center. Suitable as a cut flower, or superb when massed in the border or wildflower garden. These cheery, easy-to-grow plants belong in every sunny garden.
