ATTRIBUTES ![]() ![]() ![]() Cultivar Notes - Blue Zinger Taller and bluer than the straight species, the drifts of steel blue clumps make a spectacular display in the shade. The softly cascading foliage of Carex Blue Zinger will create a pleasing addition to your garden as it bends and sways with the warm summer breezes. A nice edger. Genus Notes - Carex Carexes are Sedges, not Grasses, but for the gardener, the distinction is moot. Carex is a huge genus of more than 1,500 species of perennials with triangular, grass-like stems. On mature plants, tiny brown seedheads may develop on panicles of short spikes. Suited to many sites, Sedge will tolerate wet and/or shade well. Excellent in foreground or as an edger. Spreads slowly. Grass-like, colorful foliage is often brightly hued or variegated. Supplemental watering may be necessary for top performance. Many are prized for their architectural quality. All tolerate shade, which makes them especially useful. Sedges tend to grow more like warm season grasses. |
