Tips for Efficient Printing
Before proceeding:
  • To print more columns on a single page, print the report in Landscape mode. To do this, change your printer's 'Orientation' to Landscape in your browser's Printer Settings dialog box.
  • Hide unneeded columns (to reduce print output width) by unchecking column names in the 'View Preferences' box at the bottom of this screen. If this screen is currently in the 'Plant Images Only' view, you must first click the 'Display In List Format' checkbox before you can hide the columns you do not want to print. Your print output will match whatever you are viewing here.

Turtlehead (Dwarf)Chelone lyonii
1. Tiny Tortuga
Click to display
Tiny Tortuga is a dwarf Turtlehead, the offspring of the well-known variety called ‘Hot Lips’. Tiny Tortuga delights with rich, dark bronzy-burgundy leaves in spring, followed by dark pink blooms in mid- and late-summer, sometimes even extending into fall. In other words, from spring through summer there's something pretty to look at!

A little-known American native perennial, it thrives in damp soils along the edges of ponds and creeks, as well as consistently moist spots in woodlands and meadows. Surely you have just the place for it in your garden or container?

2. Hot Lips

Short spikes of rosy-pink flowers that look like a turtle's head with its mouth open delight children and other passersby in late summer and early fall. This is the kind of plant that makes a great backdrop for shorter plants in the garden.
