Cultivar Notes -
Pink Mist
Pincushion-like, pink flowers with a hint of lavender are borne atop wiry stems over a long period beginning in early summer. They hover over the short mound of ferny basal foliage. This is a reliable, long-blooming selection.
Species Notes -
Scabiosa columbaria
Pincushion flower can be grown throughout much of the country, USDA Hardiness Zones 4 to 10. They perform best in locations with good drainage and full sun; it is best to put them in locations with light shade in the Deep South and West. Scabiosa is commonly used in containers, perennial borders or as a cut flower and is great for attracting butterflies into the garden.
Genus Notes -
Scabiosa
These varieties of Scabiosa are rugged front of the border plants with lace flowers known for attracting butterflies and a very long bloom time that lasts until frost.

Scabiosas bear multitudes of showy, disc-shaped flowers over a long period (if the spent flowers are removed). Plants require well-drained soil with a pH close to neutral.
