ATTRIBUTES Cultivar Notes - Pixie Splash A very low-growing goundcover cousin to the familiar Baby’s Breath of florist shops, this species is well suited to growing in the rock garden, rock wall or alpine trough. It forms a compact tuft or mound of small, rounded fresh green leaves, with taller branching stems that are studded with starry flowers from late spring into the summer. Petals are white with a splash of pink. Requires a well-drained site. Genus Notes - Gypsophila Baby’s Breath is common in florists’ bouquets, and also an excellent garden plant that makes great billowing clouds of tiny flowers. Plants need moisture-retentive but well-drained soil with an alkaline pH. Add lime to sweeten acid soil. |
