ATTRIBUTES
Cultivar Notes -
Pacino
This small flowered variety produces light yellow flowers above low growing foliage. Blooms all summer; decorative seed pods, attractive blue-green foliage.
Species Notes -
Papaver nudicaule
Iceland Poppies are short-lived perennials, native to subpolar regions of northern Europe and North America, that usually self-seed and come back year after year. Plants form a low tuft of light green leaves, bearing large, satiny, lightly fragrant flowers on hairy stems.
Genus Notes -
Papaver
Endlessly colorful, bowl-shaped late-spring and early summer blooms are held aloft on fuzzy stems above deeply lobed foliage. Poppies require well-drained soil. They falter in extreme heat and humidity.

In the center of a poppy’s flower rests a very large, velvety-black seed capsule surrounded by prominent, dark purple stamens. Altogether, these flowers absolutely steal the show when they are in bloom. After the bloom cycle is completed however, these perennials will go dormant, so plan on planting other plants nearby to fill in the gaps.
