Cultivar Notes -
Prairie Smoke
Geum triflorum is an attractive little prairie plant that easily makes the transition to a perennial border or rock garden to charm you with both its nodding pink flowers and wispy seedheads. The silky, flowing styles of the fruiting stage of Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum), never fail to win admirers at first sight. When setting seed, large stands of the plant create a gauzy effect that resembles smoke hovering close to the ground.
Genus Notes -
Geum
Geums for basal clumps of fuzzy, deeply cut foliage, above which appear ruffled orange, red, or yellow flowers on arching, branched stems in spring or early summer. They grow best in moist soils with good drainage and prefer cooler climates.
