Tips for Efficient Printing
Before proceeding:
  • To print more columns on a single page, print the report in Landscape mode. To do this, change your printer's 'Orientation' to Landscape in your browser's Printer Settings dialog box.
  • Hide unneeded columns (to reduce print output width) by unchecking column names in the 'View Preferences' box at the bottom of this screen. If this screen is currently in the 'Plant Images Only' view, you must first click the 'Display In List Format' checkbox before you can hide the columns you do not want to print. Your print output will match whatever you are viewing here.

Celandine Poppy Stylophorum diphyllum
57. Celandine Poppy
This attractive woodland plant will grow well in zones 4-8 in with little to no care in rich woodland soils. It can tolerate drier, sunnier sites with some care. Imagine these bright yellow poppies next to some blue Jacob's Ladder or Mertensia, pinkish Trout Lily or white Trillium in a spring, woodland garden! A welcome, well-deserved sight in April after a long winter. After seeds drop out of its large, hairy pods, Celandine Poppy will go dormant. Seedlings will readily emerge everywhere if fresh seed is scattered on the soil surface. Ants typically aid in seed dispersal.

This plant should not be confused with Chelidonium majus, Greater Celandine a Eurasian semi-weedy biennial often present in highly disturbed areas. The leaves and flowers of the two can be very difficult to distinguish, but they are very different in the seeding stage; Chelidonium has a long, hairless "legume" look, while Stylophorum's fuzzy pods (photos, left) are unmistakable.

The newest leaves are a remarkable iridescent purple with black veining and have amethyst purple undersides. As the leaves mature, they develop a softly luminescent pewter overlay. In midsummer, reddish purple scapes which are quite proportional to the foliage carry wands of cream flowers. Whether you grow ‘Blackberry Ice’ near the front of the flower border or in containers, you’re going to love it! 4D-South Click to display 'Dolce® Blackberry Ice' tag image 10"-12" 18"-22" 4-9 1 Gallon White
87. Dolce® Blackcurrant
Lush, deep, dark and mysterious, Dolce® Blackcurrant adds to the dreamy, dark color with silver highlights that shimmer against the deep leaf color. Flower stalks rise above the foliage in May bearing small, white, Coral Bell flowers that are attractive to native bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Like all Heuchera, Dolce® Blackcurrant is one of the great easy care plants that tolerates sun and shade equally, is deer resistant, drought resistant...all this and it looks great from early spring to late fall in the garden or in a mixed container where its beguiling color will make every other plant look better. 4D-South Click to display 'Dolce® Blackcurrant' tag image 8"-16" 16"-20" 4-9 1 Gallon White
88. Dolce® Brazen Raisin
Add a dramatic splash of dark purplish black foliage to your combination containers and landscapes with the new Brazen Raisin™. Medium to large size, flat, matte textured leaves with wine red undersides form a dense mound.

In midsummer, deep red scapes carry showy panicles of hot pink buds which open to pale pink to white flowers with a hot pink base. From a distance, the flowers appear like a light pink cloud floating above the nicely contrasting dark foliage. This plant occasionally reblooms into fall.

94. Berry Timeless
A revolution in Heuchera genetics! You’ll be amazed at the unbelievable flower production of our new ‘Berry Timeless’. A myriad of light pink flowers which age to a deeper rose red are produced in tight wands on 18-20” scapes.

What is so remarkable is what happens when the flowers are spent—they dry in place on the stems similar to what Statice does instead of falling off and leaving bare stems, thus the reference to the everlasting flowers in its name. You’ll get a two toned look of light and dark pink flowers on the same plant for a strong show of color. Even better, this plant blooms and reblooms continuously, not in waves, from early summer to frost!
